Free Will and the Power of Choice
Posted anonymously on October 26, 2025One of the greatest questions in human life is this:
Are we truly free?
Do we really have the ability to do what we want, or is everything already predetermined — leaving us to simply follow what society or religion commands?
When I grew up, new desires began to rise within me. Often, my heart leaned toward things that religion or society called “wrong.”
At first, I thought this was weakness.
But then I realized — true freedom lies in being shown both paths and being able to choose any one of them without fear.
But that’s not how it works for us.
We’re told from the beginning that one path is “right” and the other leads to “punishment.”
So if I choose the right path, it’s not an act of freedom — it’s obedience driven by fear.
For example:
Imagine two cups in front of me — one filled with honey, the other with wine.
If I’m told beforehand that drinking the wine will lead to punishment, then choosing honey isn’t true freedom.
It’s simply a choice made out of fear.
Real freedom would mean not being told what’s right or wrong, and choosing whichever cup my heart desires.
That’s why I say:
The freedom that religion and society offer is actually conditional freedom — a freedom that exists only within the boundaries of what’s labeled “right.”
This isn’t freedom — it’s a hidden form of control.
To me, true freedom means having the right to make any choice — without fear, without the threat of punishment.
Even if that choice is seen as wrong by the world.
Because if such freedom doesn’t exist, then this whole idea of “free will” is nothing but an illusion.
